The Truth About Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile Dysfunction has many causes that we will get into a little later. What I want to talk about right now is what Erectile Dysfunction or Impotence is exactly.

Definition of Erectile Dysfunction: Also known as impotence, is the inability to develop or maintain an erection of the penis for satisfactory sexual intercourse regardless of the capability of ejaculation. There are various underlying causes, many of which are medically reversible.

The definition of Erectile Dysfunction or Impotence above, pretty much covers what it is. The last four words "many of which are medically reversible" are what I find the most exciting. The thought that men don't have to live with Erectile Dysfunction or Impotence comes as a relief.

What Is The Difference Between ED and Impotence?

It used to be that men with an erection problem were called impotents. Then the term Impotence implied a problem with little to no solution. However, in most modern conversations about Erectile Dysfunction and Impotence, there is no difference at all.

The short answer is... Erectile Dysfunction is considered the politically correct term.

The Causes of Erectile Dysfunction

Believe it or not, an erection is a VERY complicated thing. There is a precise sequence of events both mental and physical that has to take place to obtain and maintain an erection. If anything is slightly off, it can be disastrous.

Impotence can be caused by stress, drugs, nerve damage, arterial damage, smoothing of muscles and fibrous tissues.

One of the most common causes, is stress and it can manifest symptoms in many ways, one of which is Erectile Dysfunction. Whats worse, if you experience Erectile Dysfunction due to stress, this can often time stress you out even more! Are you beginning to see the vicious cycle?
